At Narwyn, we are a Preservation Breeder of Havanese. We are always working to protect the historical charms of the Havanese - the things that make them wonderful companions like their size, coat, and temperament - while improving overall health and physical and mental soundness of the breed. We strive to produce healthy household pets, as well as dogs who can successfully compete in various dog sport venues. We have a three-tiered approach to making sure we produce happy, healthy Havanese:

  • Our dogs complete conformation dog shows, as well as obedience, rally, canine good citizen, trick dog, or even agility when we have time! This gives us outside opinions on our dogs’ Havanese-y look and temperament.

  • All of our parent dogs have passed the Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) health testing requirements recommended by the Havanese Club of America, plus additional recommended health screenings.

  • We take utmost care raising our puppies with socialization, handling, and care that sets the foundation for a happy, confident, and well-adjusted adult dog.

We are also a Hobby Breeder, meaning we are very small scale and it is a labor of love, not an endeavor for profit. We average one litter a year and only sell puppies directly to carefully screened homes.

We are long-standing members of the Havanese Club of America and our local kennel club. We’re located in southern Rhode Island, and while we are not the only Havanese breeder around here, we are the only show breeder, AKC Breeder of Merit and HEART breeder, and the only one who takes this holistic approach to carefully producing Havanese with care for their history, health, and early socialization.

All of our litters are from OFA health tested, CHIC number, AKC titled parents and are raised in our home. We also occasionally have an adult Havanese available to their “retirement home.”

You can look for updates on planned litters and available adults on our Available page. While I don’t maintain a pre-screened waitlist, when puppies are a few months out I set up a mailing list you can sign up for, and receive updates. I do not place puppies in order of application received, but rather individually select the best possible home for each puppies’ unique personality and needs.

If you’re looking for a well-bred Havanese puppy in New England and understand the value of a wait for a puppy raised with socialization protocols like Puppy Culture and Avidog; who’s from a breeder active and invested in the health and future of the breed; who stands by every puppy they breed with a health guarantee that doesn’t require you to return your beloved pet, and will take back and puppy at any time or for any reason; and will provide one-on-one support for the life of the dog and invite you to our annual “family reunion” cookouts - we might be the breeder for you!

From here, I suggest you read my frequently asked questions and then head over to read about my available Havanese puppies and adults.
